Recycling Containers for Container Gardening

Published by farmblogger at 5:53 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Recycled containers can make some lovely planters for your container garden.

Old wooden crates splashed with a coat of paint and filled with soil can be an easy way to create raised beds for your garden.

Old wooden barrels can also provide a deep growing environment for larger plants.  Just be sure the bottom is porous.  If you can cut a wooden barrel in half lengthwise, even better!

Large metal cans painted a dark color can provide a warm growing environment.  To allow for proper drainage, be sure to use a hammer and nail to punch holes in the bottom of the can.  (Not too many or all your water will escape.)

The sky really is the limit in recycling containers for container gardening.  Get as creative as you like.  Just remember that your plants roots need plenty of room to spread out and lots of good drainage.
